Old Loans Inn Award makes it a double for SimpsInns

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION Monday, November 7th, 2011

These are heady times indeed at SimpsInns. Not content with pushing forward with the opening of the brand new Waterside, the family-owned business picked up the ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ accolade for the Old Loans Inn at the recent Golf Tourism Scotland awards.

The Old Loans Inn is the perfect base for exploring the abundance of championship golf courses on its doorstep. Open Championship venue Royal Troon is just a matter of minutes away, while Turnberry is only a short drive from the bespoke 20-bedroom hotel situated in the quaint village of Loans, Troon.

As part of the SimpsInns portfolio, the Old Loans Inn enjoys a loyal following where visitors and guests return time and again to enjoy the wonderful service and great food on offer in contemporary surrounds.

“It’s a very exciting time for SimpsInns. For the Old Loans Inn to have won the Golf Tourism Scotland (GTS) Small Hotel of the Year award is a great honour and recognition for all the hard work put in by our team over the past year,” said SimpsInns owner Malcolm Simpson after the awards ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews. The accolade comes after SimpsInns recently won the Ayrshire Family Business of the Year award.

“The Old Loans Inn is the perfect base for golf and leisure breaks in the heart of Ayrshire. We are fortunate to have so many world class golf courses in such close proximity. Everyone knows of the championship delights such as Royal Troon or Turnberry but Ayrshire has so many other courses to sample with prices to suit every budget.”

It seems so little time ago when the Old Loans Inn closed for a time and underwent a £2million redevelopment programme and reopened ahead of golf’s 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry. The once “country pub” transformed into a hugely desirable boutique country hotel, complete with full mod cons yet maintaining its warm, welcoming ambiance.

The GTS award comes just weeks after SimpsInns opened the Waterside Bar and Restaurant at Seamill, West Kilbride to sit alongside the groups other venues such as award-winning Gailes Hotel, Irvine and Old Loans Inn, 2010 Small Business of the Year at the SLTN awards.

For the month of November SimpsInns is running a special promotion for all their Loyalty Card Holders where they can avail of the ‘Simply SimpsInns’ menu at the Old Loans Inn all day every day – yes, all day every day. Two courses for £9.95 or three courses for £11.95.
